VENUS

VENUS (a five-minute poem)

Blink, silver coin,
hover in swirling storm-fogs of our
tilted, knock-kneed planet, your glow thrown
into emptiness from a shower

of sulfurous mist that closed in
over your prim deserts —
second from the sun,
goddess of our hearts.
